The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, has praised the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mohammed Abba, for his role in maintaining a peaceful and secure environment during the recently conducted local government election in the state.
The election took place on Saturday across Osun, with security personnel deployed to ensure law and order.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Yemisi Opalola, the IGP’s commendation was conveyed during a visit to the state police command on Tuesday.
According to Opalola, the IGP was in Osun to oversee security operations and personally assess the situation following the local government election.
She further stated that the IGP, represented by Ari Muhammed Ali, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of Operations, commended the dedication and commitment of officers who worked tirelessly to maintain order during the electoral process.
“He also commended the Osun Commissioner of Police for his exemplary leadership and role in ensuring a peaceful and secure environment throughout the election period.
“He praised the officers and men for their dedication and hard work and expressed gratitude for their support,” Opalola stated.
The police spokesperson added that the IGP concluded his remarks by thanking officers for their service to the nation and their commitment to upholding the integrity of the police force.
