The new Nigeria President, Bola Tinubu has vowed to treat his opponents in the February 25 presidential election with respect.
Tinubu, who stated this while giving his first inaugural speech at the presidential inauguration venue at Eagle Square in Abuja on Monday, said his victory does not make him a more important Nigerian than the rest, while it does not render the opponents less Nigerian than himself.
“My victory does not render me more Nigerian than the rest of you. It also does not render my opponents less Nigerian than me.
“I will treat my opponents, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, as important compatriots,” he said.
The former Lagos governor defeated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, in the February 25 presidential election, to emerge as the president-elect.
Subsequently, he was officially sworn in-in as the 16th elected president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on Monday, May 29, 2023, he Eagle Square, Abuja.
However, Atiku and Obi are still at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, where they are challenging the victory of Tinubu, at the election.
