The Enugu State African Action Congress governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Ray Kene Ogbodo, has commended Governor Peter Mbah for his exceptional leadership but appealed for the implementation of the new minimum wage.
Ogbodo, a Leadership and Performance Strategist, praised Mbah’s administration for its commitment to transforming Enugu State through infrastructure development, economic growth, and innovative initiatives.
He expressed his willingness to support Mbah’s administration in delivering good governance and holding the government accountable where necessary.
He stated, “Governance is for all, not just the few.”
Ogbodo acknowledged that some of Mbah’s visions align with his own and expressed his support for policies aimed at alleviating poverty in Enugu State.
He praised Mbah for deviating from the previous government’s style and taking a new course, saying, “From what I’m hearing and seeing, Mbah is working on developing Enugu State infrastructure and raising the economy. I believe he will be able to take Enugu to the next level.”
However, Ogbodo appealed to Mbah to implement the new minimum wage of ₦70,000 to cushion the effects of high cost of living on workers. He emphasized, “There is no better time than now to increase workers’ salary… Our people are suffering and languishing in poverty, they deserve a decent and better life, our Governor can help to ease the pain for our people.”
Ogbodo concluded by looking forward to a multi-facet economy in Enugu, modern infrastructure, improvement in the agricultural sector, diversification of the energy sector, improvement in the transportation system, and a cleaner environment, saying, “As I appreciate and commend the Governor, I look forward to… delivering a cleaner and welcoming environment that will make Enugu State the destination of choice for private investors.”
