The Independent National Electoral Commission has lambasted the Labour Party, and its Presidential candidate in the last election, Peter for blaming the Commission for their failure, in prosecuting the case they brought before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
Stating this in Abuja on Wednesday, the Electoral Umpire who spoke through its legal representation, Kemi Pinheiro SAN, it has become a common pattern for Obi and his Party to always shift blame to someone else whenever they want an adjournment from the court.
During her reaction to the claim by Obi’s lawyer, Livy Uzouku SAN, that the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood failed to grant their Subpoena to produce some documents needed for the case.
Uzoukwu had made the claim mid-way into the proceedings at the court on Wednesday.
However, the INEC lawyer who countered the claim said,
“It has become a habit. Whenever they want to seek an adjournment, they look for somebody to whip. It cannot be true that a subpoena is refused by the office of the INEC Chairman.
“Don’t use INEC as a whipping boy. If they have nothing else to do today, they should just say so. It is their day.
“It is not correct that the office of INEC Chairman refused to accept a subpoena,” she stated.
