The National Security Advisor, Nuhu Ribadu, Service Chiefs, and Inspector-General of Police were asked by President Bola Tinubu to collaborate to combat insecurity on Monday in Abuja.
According to The Punch, considering the magnitude of the effort required of them, Tinubu has given his unwavering support.
After a private meeting with the President and Service Chiefs at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, Ribadu told State House Correspondents, “He told us that we must work as a team and that there is work to be done.”
Tinubu reiterated a similar instruction he gave to the recently departed Service Chiefs on June 1, in which he said he would not tolerate them acting in opposition to one another.
“He said that we must function as a team and that there is work to be done. He said he will expect us to deliver, and we are appreciative of the chance. That is the reason we are here.”
According to Ribadu, incidents of insecurity have decreased across the country in recent weeks and will continue to do so as security officials get to work.
“You can already tell that our nation is getting better. As you can see, there are fewoffencesses and criminal activity records. It will keep declining.”
Ribadu continued, “We’re going to work hard to make sure that we achieve that goal of safeguarding our nation, building peace and stability, and let’s get our lives back.”
The security heads include Maj. Gen. C.G. Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. T.A. Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral E. A. Ogalla, Chief of Air Staff, AVM H.B. Abubakar, Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence, and Kayode Egbetokun, Acting Inspector-General of Police.
