Iran on Wednesday declared three days of mourning following the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in an attack blamed on arch-foe Israel.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran announced three days of public mourning following the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh,” the government said in a statement.
Ismail Haniyeh was been killed in Iran on Tuesday.
According to Iranian state media, Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were assassinated in Tehran.
Hamas attributed his death to “a treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran.”
