President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday, received the representatives of the Peek Vision, at the State House Abuja.
This was disclosed by the Nigerian Television Authority, through a post on its official X handle, on Friday, September 1, 2023.
According to the NTA, the purpose of the meeting was to plan to replicate the eye care success in Lagos, during the administration of President Tinubu, while he was a governor of Lagos state, at the national level.
It would be recalled that Tinubu introduced a free eye care system, where people with eye defects were being treated for free, and being given free eyeglasses called ‘Jigi Bola,’ while he was governor of Lagos, from 1999 to 2007.
However, Peek Vision was the company that produced the eyeglasses, back then.
Making this known on Friday, NTA wrote: “President Bola Tinubu receives Representatives of Peek Vision, Producers of ‘Jigi Bola’, with a plan to replicate the eyecare success in Lagos years back, at a national scale.”
