The Supreme Court on Thursday faulted claims that a candidate must polled 25% votes in the Federal Capital Territory to become president.
With the ruling, the apex court agreed with the Court of Appeal that the FCT, Abuja, is like other states.
“Are you saying if someone scores 25% votes in 30 states but not in Abuja, he should not be president? Is that how you interpret the law?
“That is not the law. Supreme Court agrees with the Court of Appeal,” Justice John Okoro said in his lead judgement.
