In a show of solidarity, stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State have declared their support for Governor Uba Sani, amidst a lingering political battle between him and his predecessor, Nasir el-Rufai.
The declaration was made at a meeting of the Kaduna State APC Executive Committee, held at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Hall, Murtala Muhammad Square, Kaduna.
The meeting was attended by top party chieftains, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and the APC chairman in Kaduna State, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (rtd), according to Daily Post.
The stakeholders passed a vote of confidence in Governor Sani, a move seen as a strategic attempt to strengthen his position amidst the ongoing political tensions.
The vote was moved by the APC Deputy Vice Chairman, North West, Hon. Datti Garba Muhammad, and seconded by former House of Representatives member, Hon. Yakubu Barde.
The political battle between Governor Sani and his predecessor, Nasir el-Rufai, has been escalating in recent weeks, with the Kaduna State House of Assembly launching a probe into the financial dealings of the El-Rufai administration.
The move is seen as a bid to uncover alleged financial mismanagement and corruption during el-Rufai’s tenure.
Despite the tensions, Governor Sani has received assurances of support from the APC leadership in the state, with the party’s chairman, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (rtd), pledging to work closely with the governor to deliver on the party’s manifesto.
The political developments in Kaduna State are being closely watched, as the APC seeks to maintain its stronghold in the region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said: “APC Deputy Vice Chairman, North West, Hon. Datti Garba Muhammad, moved a motion for a vote of confidence on Governor Uba Sani, which was seconded by Hon. Yakubu Barde, a former House of Reps member for Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency. The motion was unanimously endorsed by the Kaduna APC leaders at the meeting.”
