The Kaduna House of Assembly has hired human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) to prosecute former governor Nasir El-Rufai for corruption.
According to Saharareporters, Falana will lead a team of lawyers to begin investigating the alleged monumental corruption on Thursday in Kaduna.
Earlier in July, the Kaduna State House of Assembly reaffirmed allegations of financial misconduct against El-Rufai’s administration, claiming it diverted a staggering sum of ₦423,115,028,072.8.
The lawmakers also denounced attempts by some political appointees to discredit the House and conceal the alleged fraud.
In June, the State House of Assembly demanded the immediate refund of ₦36 billion allegedly paid for illegal contractual transactions by El-Rufai’s government.
A committee found the administration violated procurement laws and paid ₦36,351,126,811.65 for work either not done, overpaid, or diverted to various contractors.
