The Northern Awareness Network has condemned the recent actions of the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, against Governor Alex Otti of Abia state.
In a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Salihu Suleiman, NAN expressed concern that Kalu’s confrontational activities could create discord and undermine the Abia State government’s efforts to revitalize various sectors.
NAN stated: “The ongoing administration is committed to reinforcing the foundations of development in the state. It is imperative that all stakeholders, including Hon. Kalu, channel their energies toward supporting this vision rather than detracting from it.”
The group added: “The citizens of Abia State are looking for effective leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people over personal conflicts, and leaders need to demonstrate resilience and fortitude in challenging times.”
NAN urged Kalu to reconsider his approach, saying: “The path to effective representation is paved with collaboration, mutual respect, and a genuine commitment to the public good.”
The group concluded: “We beseech Hon. Benjamin Kalu to allow Abia State to thrive under its current popular administration, which is working tirelessly to advance the state’s interests. A united front is paramount for the progress and prosperity of our communities. Let us work together to build a brighter future for all Nigerians.”
This comes after Kalu stated that Governor Otti would be the last Labour Party governor of Abia State, saying: “Otti has done well as a governor, but the state needed to be governed by APC because of President Bola Tinubu’s contribution to Abia.”
