Kano State Deputy Governor, Malam Aminu Gwarzo, has issued an unreserved apology to National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
This comes after Gwarzo made accusations against Ribadu on Saturday, alleging that he orchestrated the return of deposed Emir Aminu Bayero to Kano.
Gwarzo addressed newsmen on Monday at the Government House, admitting that he was misled into making the allegation, according to Daily Post.
He expressed deep regret for any embarrassment or inconvenience caused to Ribadu and his office.
The apology was welcomed by many, who saw it as a sign of accountability and maturity in governance.
The incident has also highlighted the importance of verifying information before making public statements.
“We were shocked to hear the NSA’s name mentioned in the plot to impose a deposed Emir in Kano, knowing his integrity and pedigree.
“We are human and can err at any time,” the deputy governor said.
“On behalf of myself and the Governor of Kano State, I assure the NSA of our continued support and cooperation in discharging his duties.”
The deputy governor called on President Bola Tinubu to conduct a thorough investigation into the happenings in Kano to ensure peace and stability in the state.
