The Senator representing Kano South, Sulaiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, has confessed that 2024 budget has more mistakes that he has ever seen as a lawmaker.
The lawmaker made the confession in an interview with an online television station in Kano.
He said that the appropriation bill recently assented to by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had a lot of mistakes, the sort he had never seen in a budget before.
“This year’s budget is the most mistake-ridden budget I have ever seen.
“It is clear that the government is not taking the necessary steps to address our economic challenges,” he stated.
Senator Sumaila, a former Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, also spoke on the insecurity in the country, urging the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to protect the lives and property of Nigerian citizens.
The senator, a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party expressed his deep frustration and disappointment in the way the All Progressives Congress led administration is handling the country’s security challenges.
He questioned the security agencies’ ability to effectively address the security issues plaguing the country, challenging them to do more.
Recall that the Senate had suspended Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi Central), over allegation of padding of the 2024 budget.
The lawmakers said that the allegations made through the Hausa Service of the BBC, were aimed at destroying the image of the Senate and the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, asked Ningi to proceed on a three months suspension.
