A former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential campaign, Daniel Bwala, has made a scathing remark about the former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, calling him a “political jobber”, also predicting that one of the party’s chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo, would soon leave the party.
Bwala’s comment came after Isaac Balami, a former Labour Party member, defected to the All Progressives Congress.
Bwala pointed out that Obi has a history of switching political parties, starting from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, back to PDP, and eventually to the Labour Party.
He suggested that Obi would soon follow in the footsteps of Doyin Okupe and Isaac Balami, who have both left LP for other parties.
Bwala’s statement was in response to Balami’s defection from LP to APC, which he attributed to the need to support the president and redirect the country’s trajectory. He also described LP as a “Special Purpose Vehicle” rather than a political party, implying that it lacks a clear ideology or mission.
Bwala’s remarks were directed at Obi’s supporters, known as “Obidients,” whom he accused of being gullible and intolerant of others’ right to association. He pointed out that Obi himself has switched parties multiple times, making him the “grandfather of political jobberism.”
Posting on X, Bwala wrote: “The other day was Doyin Okupe, today is my brother Isaac Balami, mark my words, tomorrow certainly it will be Kenneth Okonkwo, because of two reasons;
“As patriots, seeing the urgency to rally round our president at this difficult time as he re-directs the ship Nigeria;
“Labour Party is a SPV and not a political party.
“That leaves the elements called “Obidients” with one lesson; thus no matter their threats and bullies, Nigerians would exercise their rights of association as enshrined in our constitution
“@PeterObi too will leave Labour Party at some points.
“If you call people who exercise their rights of association as political jobbers, then your hero peter Obi is the grandfather of political Jobberism having started from PDP to APGA to PDP to Labour and now in talks with PDP. You people are the most gullible of all time. GOAT means Gullibles Of All Time.”
