A former Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo, has started a new hashtag on Twitter following allegations against the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Recall that, earlier in the week, the National Judicial Council and the Court of Appeal denied a social media claim that Justice Boloukuoromo Ugo had withdrawn his membership from the Presidential Election Petition Court.
Following the claim by a Twitter user, Umar Sani, the micro blogging platform went wild, citing that the judge resigned on the grounds of “demands to knee-cap democracy”.
Sani alleged that the judge, in his resignation letter, stated that he was asked to “cripple the independence of the judiciary” by ruling in favour of a certain political candidate.
However, reacting in a chat with TheCable on Thursday, the spokesman of the NJC, Soji Oye said the claims are false and should be ignored by discerning Nigerians.
Oye stated that the aim of the claims is to distract Nigerians and set the tone for a narrative, in the event that the court’s judgement doesn’t favour the rumour peddlers.
Also reacting to the development in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Friday, Keyamo described those behind the reports against the judiciary as cowardly blackmailers.
He, therefore, asked if there is a concocted story on the judiciary today and started the hashtag titled #AllEyesOnTheBlackmailers.
He wrote, “Hello cowardly blackmailers, is there any concocted story on the judiciary today?
Note: as from now on it’s going to be #AllEyesOnTheBlackmailers.”
