Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing the Barefoot Renewable Energy College in Kogi State.
The governor spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony held at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, where he laid the foundation for the college alongside the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, and the Director General of Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi.
The governor expressed optimism that the project will help address the negative impacts of climate change by promoting renewable energy sources and adaptation in Nigeria, according to Indepedent.
He noted that the Renewable Energy College aims to empower marginalized segments of society by fostering gender equality and enhancing local resilience.
Minister Nnaji emphasized the significance of the college in achieving sustainable development and energy transition in Nigeria.
He commended Governor Bello for his contributions to making the Renewable Energy College a reality, building a legacy that will benefit future generations.
Dr. Abdullahi, Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, highlighted the college’s importance in bridging the gap in manpower development and enhancing knowledge in innovation and renewable energy opportunities.
