The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission has announced October 19, 2024, as the date for the conduct of local government elections across the state.
The Chairman, Mamman Nda Eri, made the announcement during a press conference in Lokoja on Tuesday, citing the commission’s constitutional powers and electoral laws.
Eri assured stakeholders that the election timetable and schedule have been designed with inclusivity and adherence to electoral laws in mind, according to Daily Post.
He presented the detailed timetable and schedule for review and approval, in accordance with the Constitution and powers vested in the State Independent Electoral Commission.
This development sets the stage for the upcoming local government elections in Kogi State, with KOSIEC committed to ensuring a free, fair, and credible electoral process.
“We are assuring you that these activities have been designed with the utmost consideration for inclusivity and adherence to electoral laws.
“As such, we present the detailed timetable and schedule of activities to you all as critical stakeholders, for your review and approval.
“This is in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and the powers vested in the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC),” he noted.
