The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission announced that it will not use the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System in the September 28 local government election.
According to the commission, BVAS is neither reliable nor credible, citing its disappointing performances in previous elections in Nigeria.
The Commissioner in charge of Information and Logistics Tony Nnalue made the announcement during a sensitization program organised by the International Peace and Civil Responsibility Centre.
He said they opted for manual accreditation instead, deeming it more trustworthy.
ANSIEC said: “We will not use BVAS but manual. BVAS is not reliable; it has distorted the electoral process in Nigeria.”
