Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has cast his vote in the ongoing local government elections in the state.
He arrived at Ward 3, Polling Unit 002, Ita Osanyin, in Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area at around 11:24 AM to participate in the voting process.
After casting his vote, Abiodun commended the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission for its level of preparedness for the election.
He acknowledged the common logistical challenges that often arise in elections, including delays in the delivery of electoral materials and officers to polling units.
Despite these challenges, the governor noted that materials had been successfully distributed across the state and voting had commenced as planned.
Abiodun also expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of voters at his polling unit, highlighting that it was a positive reflection of the electorate’s readiness to engage in governance, despite the economic difficulties the country is facing. He praised the citizens for their commitment to democracy, noting that their participation was a clear vote of confidence in the democratic process.
He said, “I want to first appreciate the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission for their level of preparedness for this election.
“The feedback I have gotten shows that they are very diligent. In every election, we can’t rule out maybe some logistics hiccups, but by and large, I’ve been informed that as of now, the electoral materials have reached all the nooks and crannies of the state, and the process of voting has commenced in earnest.
“I want to thank the good people of Ogun State who have come out in their numbers to express themselves through the ballot.
“I see this as a vote of confidence particularly at this time when we know that it costs more than it cost in the last election.
“I want to appreciate their support for democracy, and I confidently say that in the end, everyone will be happy.”
