Following the release of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ministerial nominees, the former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has begun trending on the internet after a video clip of him stating that he would not become minister surfaced.
In the video, Wike was seen saying he did not intend to become a minister after his tenure as governor.
Recall that, on Thursday, Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, submitted the ministerial list to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, meeting the 60-days deadline within which the President was to submit it.
On the 28-man list, Wike’s name was present, although his portfolio was not stated.
In the trending video, Wike was heard saying, “Only one person can be a minister from a state, I will not be a minister. I will not. I am not a liability, Rivers State is an asset.
“So if you don’t want to win an election, it’s your business. I’m not the one running the election.
“He who wears the shoes knows where it pinches him”.
