A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, Ayirimi Emami has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against criticism over the current hunger and economic hardship in Nigeria.
Emami made the claims in a chat with newsmen during the Ologbotsere Day Celebration held in Ubeji, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
He stated that Tinubu did not cause the hunger and that it is a problem he inherited from previous administrations, according to Daily Post.
He acknowledged that people are suffering but emphasized that the president is working to address the issue and improve citizens’ welfare.
Emami also cautioned organizers of the planned nationwide protest against hunger to be peaceful and avoid allowing their protest to be hijacked by miscreants.
He stressed that protest is a democratic right but must be exercised responsibly.
He hinted that hunger in the land is the result of the “wrong foundation” President Tinubu inherited in his government which he is struggling with.
He said, “Hunger is not caused by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is a problem he inherited.”
”They have to be cautious in their actions and be peaceful with their planned protests, anything contrary to that, makes your planned protest become stupid.”
