Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has warned President Bola Tinubu that the country is sitting on the time bomb of hardship.
The activist stated that if Nigerians continue to endure the hardship, it might lead to revolution in the nearest future.
Adeyanju urged President Tinubu to partner with churches, mosques, and traditional rulers in a bid to reduce corruption in the National Social Investment Programmes, according to Daily Post.
In a statement, he reiterated that hardship, kidnappings, banditry and insecurity have become the order of the day.
He said, “It is imperative to recognize that Nigeria is currently sitting on a time bomb of hardships, banditry, insecurity, and kidnapping. The cumulative effect of these challenges has pushed our nation to the brink.
“If urgent measures are not taken to cushion the effects of this hardship, we fear that mass protests may erupt across the country, potentially leading to a serious revolution.”
He reiterated that there is a level Nigerians can endure hardship, with a call on President Tinubu to work towards alleviating hardship in the nation.
“We must acknowledge that there is a limit to what the people can endure. If President Tinubu genuinely cares about the well-being of the citizens and seeks to alleviate their suffering, it is important that he reinstates the suspended programmes that can provide much-needed support to ordinary citizens and the vulnerable.”
