Former governor of Ogun State, otunba Gbenga Daniel has been declared winner of the Ogun East Senatorial Destrict, in the just concluded national assembly election in the state, on Saturday.
Daniel, who was a two time governor of the state, from 2003 – 2011, under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party declared his retirement from the active politics, building up to the 2019 election.
However, he joined the rulling party, All Progressives Congress shortly after leaving PDP.
He contested at the APC primary election, for the seat of a senator, and won all other candidates, who contested with him.
However, he participated in the Saturday national assembly election against other contenders in the state, and won.
The former governor, who participated in the election, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Polled a score of 115, 147 votes, to defeat other contestants in the Senatorial destrict, who contested for the national assembly seat with him, in the Saturday national assembly election.
