The vice presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party, Ifeanyi Okowa, has asked the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, to cancel the results of the general election held on Saturday.
This, he said on Tuesday during a joint press conference alongside Labour Party’s vice presidential candidate,Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmedin in Abuja.
Okowa claimed that the election process is not transparent, and the results should have been uploaded from each polling unit.
Speaking during the press conference, he said, “All the election results must be transmitted at the polling unit level and that is the basis. It’s those results from the 176,000 units that we can use through the process of collation.”
He emphasised that it is against the electoral laws not to have transmitted results from all the polling units.
“So if you have not transmitted those results, it means that you have not conducted the election under the very law that we have all applauded,” he said.
The PDP’s VP further stated that “the right thing to do is for the INEC Chairman to truly go forth and cancel the elections.”
