The embattled Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has claimed that he has done nothing to warrant an impeachment move against me, by the state House of Assembly.
Fubara made this known on Monday while addressing his supporters at the Assembly Complex, shortly after the House members, led by their Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, convened to begin the impeachment process against him.
The governor who reassured the people of Rivers State a dividend of democracy, challenged the lawmakers to come out and tell the people what he has done wrong to deserve the impeachment plan against him.
He said: “Let them come out and tell Rivers people the offence I have committed to warrant any impeachment,” the governor said while addressing his supporters at the Assembly Complex.
“Let me assure the people of Rivers that I will continue to ensure that you get the dividends of democracy. At the appropriate time, I will address the press.”
While assuring the people of getting the dividends of democracy, Fubara said he would speak on the matter at the appropriate time.
Premium Politics had earlier reported that there were gunshots and firing of teargas within the State House of Assembly Complex on Monday, as some lawmakers sat to begin an impeachment process on Governor Fubara.
During the process, the lawmakers also suspended the leader of the House, Edison Ehie, and some of the lawmakers believed to be loyal to the governor.
