The wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief (Mrs) Bola Obasanjo, has emphasized the importance of investing in children’s education to enhance their future prospects and contribution to society.
She advised parents and guardians to prioritize their children’s education and make sacrifices if necessary, even in challenging economic times.
Mrs. Obasanjo spoke at the 12th Anniversary and Graduation Ceremony of Lyceum Schools, held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
She commended parents for sending their children to Lyceum schools despite the rising cost of living and encouraged them to continue their efforts, according to TheNation.
The former First Lady stressed that education is crucial for children’s future success and should not be compromised, even in difficult times.
She urged parents not to use current hardships as an excuse to remove their children from school, expressing hope that things would get better with persistence.
Head of Schools, Mrs Maureen Ola-Williams, also emphasized the importance of teaching children respect for teachers, elders, and good character, which would guide them towards a better future.
“Whatever education we give to our children, it is our backbone and we need to lift them. We should invest in their future with this economy and not in building houses and buying cars. May Almighty God lift their hands and continue to provide and bless their parents,” Obasanjo noted.
