The Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, on Strategy, Performance and Project Monitoring, Mrs. Sarah Ajose-Adeogun, aka Madam Sarah, has resigned.
Ajose-Adeogun, while confirming her resignation as a Special Adviser to Obaseki in a post on her Facebook page, said: “l came, l saw and l conquered.”
The resignation of the former Senior Manager with the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited came a little over one month after former Chief Press Secretary to Obaseki, Andrew Okungbowa, also quit his position.
It was gathered that the resignation of the Edo governor’s top aide may not be unconnected with the battle of supremacy and survival of the fittest, rocking the outgoing Obaseki-led administration.
According to The Nation, Ajose-Adeogun’s office was once shut down by the Chief of Staff to Edo Governor, Osaigbovo Iyoha, because she allegedly refused to yield her seat in a commercial flight to Obaseki.
There had been political battles in the state due to the decision on who to succeed Governor Obaseki, whose second tenure will come to an end in a few months.
While the governor’s deputy, Philip Shaibu is nursing the ambition to succeed his boss, Obaseki is supporting a Lagos-based lawyer, Asue Ighodalo, as his successor.
However, this led to a face-off with numerous members of PDP’s Legacy Coalition, led by the National Vice Chairman, South-South, of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, the immediate Edo Chairman of PDP, who declared Ighodalo won’t succeed Obaseki.
