The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, along with three South-West governors and other national party leaders, have declared their support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
The party’s national leaders in attendance included the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and the Southwest National Vice Chairman, Hon. Isaack Kekemeke.
The stakeholders’ meeting, held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, brought together aggrieved party leaders and governorship aspirants.
Speaking at the event over the weekend, Ganduje expressed confidence in the party’s chances, stating that the APC would win the upcoming election. He called on all aggrieved members to set aside their differences and work together as a unified team to ensure victory.
Ganduje emphasized that the APC had begun to speak with one voice, noting that all the aggrieved aspirants had shown their willingness to join forces with others to strengthen the party’s position ahead of the polls.
“The convergence of party leaders has marked the end of the reconciliation process in the state,” Ganduje said, urging the APC family to remain united. “Our target is to win the election, and our mission is to assure that the party stands firmly behind you. All stakeholders have come together to ensure a successful election.”
“We are encouraged by the unity, solidarity, and vigor we’ve seen, especially when we invited all those aspirants who contested,” he added. “We are here to encourage, energize, and support you, and to ensure that this election is a task that must be accomplished.”
Ganduje appealed to the party’s governorship aspirants, saying, “We cannot say you lost the election; it’s a win-win situation for all of us, including those aspirants who have already pledged their support for the party’s candidate.”
He also assured the gathering that the party’s issues had been resolved, with commitments from previously aggrieved factions.
He said, “We are aiming for a 90 percent turnout in the election. Make sure you know those who are supposed to vote in your units and ensure they are mobilized to come out for the election.”
Ganduje also stressed the importance of delivering a strong result for the APC, saying, “We assure you that Tinubu is the best we have, and we must secure 100 percent support for the APC in this election and throughout the Southwest region. We are strategizing to reclaim the two other states in this region.”
In his opening remarks, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Southwest coordinator, called for unity among all members, urging them to approach the polls as a united front. He appealed to all party members, particularly the aggrieved aspirants, to work together for the APC’s victory in the upcoming election.
