The Labour Party candidate for the upcoming Ondo governorship election on November 16, Olusola Ebiseni, has positioned the contest as a two-horse race between his party and the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Ebiseni dismissed the prospects of the People’s Democratic Party, arguing that the party stands no chance in the election.
According to Ebiseni, the PDP’s candidate, Agboola Ajayi, previously served as deputy governor under Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, a connection he argues will limit Ajayi’s appeal in the upcoming election.
“This election is going to be about two political parties and their administration,” Ebiseni stated. “There is no PDP in this election. This election is between the Labour Party and the APC. Agboola Ajayi of the PDP was Akeredolu’s first-time deputy governor. Aiyedatiwas of the APC was Akeredolu’s second-term deputy governor, now the incumbent governor.”
He emphasized that voters should assess the record and credibility of these individuals based on their roles within the Akeredolu administration.
“If you want to assess their credibility and performance, you will assess them; you will assess the Akeredolu government and the roles they played,” he explained.
Highlighting his own qualifications, Ebiseni said his experience as a former local government chairman and commissioner during the Mimiko administration has prepared him to lead Ondo State effectively.
