The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, alongside the National Working Committee, approved the formation of sub-committees on Monday to support the party’s campaign for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election, scheduled for November 16.
According to a list signed by APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, the Elders Committee will be chaired by former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande, who currently serves as chairman of the University of Ibadan Governing Council.
Assisting Akande in this role is former Ondo governorship aspirant, Pius Akinyelure.
For the Finance Committee, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has been appointed Chairman, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio serving as his deputy.
In charge of the Media and Publicity Committee is Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, assisted by the current Minister of Information, Idris Mohammed.
Overseeing security efforts, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has been appointed Chairman of the Security Committee, with Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya as his deputy.
The brief statement released by the party stated, “The National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in consultation with the National Working Committee, has approved the composition of the Ondo state Gubernatorial National Campaign Council.”
It further confirmed that, “The inauguration of the Ondo State National Gubernatorial Campaign Council will be held at the International Event Centre (The Dome) in Akure, Ondo State on October 28.”
Additionally, three days ago, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was appointed Chairman of the National Campaign Council, a 305-member council established to drive the APC’s campaign strategy for victory in Ondo.
Leveraging his leadership experience, Sanwo-Olu is tasked with guiding the team’s campaign activities and winning tactics.
He will be supported by former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who serves as the council’s Secretary, along with prominent APC figures including Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
