The Labour Party’s candidate in the Ondo State governorship election, Festus Ayo Olorunfemi, has cast his vote in the ongoing polls.
He voted at his polling unit in Unit 8, Ward 5, located in Ajowa-Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Olorunfemi’s participation follows a recent decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission to include his name on the ballot after an appeal court ruling that replaced Olusola Ebiseni as the LP candidate.
Meanwhile, tension escalated in Ofosun Village, situated along the Ondo-Edo state boundary, when gunshots were heard throughout the area.
The shots, reportedly fired by unknown individuals, caused widespread panic among residents, who chose to stay indoors to avoid any potential harm.
Although there were no reported casualties, the incident left the community on edge.
Concerns were further raised by the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Festus Akingbaso, who praised the voter turnout but also expressed worry over the reported infiltration of several villages in Idanre Local Government Area by suspected hoodlums.
The cause of the gunfire in Ofosun Village remains unclear.
