The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has urged the people of Ondo State to support Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the APC’s candidate, in his bid for re-election, emphasizing the continuation of progressive leadership in the state.
Speaking in Akure at the inauguration of the APC’s national governorship campaign council for Ondo State, Ganduje, alongside campaign council chairman, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, highlighted Aiyedatiwa’s contributions, commitment to development and therefore, predicted a landslide victory.
The council also includes former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege as secretary, with governors, ministers, and National Assembly members as committee members.
Ganduje stated, “The governor is providing progressive leadership and is a symbol of progressive ideology. We are here in Ondo State to assure you that this programme will continue providing much-needed infrastructural facilities in both urban and rural areas.”
He described Aiyedatiwa as “a lucky man” and encouraged voters to show respect for President Tinubu, who hails from the same geopolitical zone, by ensuring a united front in the region through democratic means.
Sanwo-Olu, in his remarks, noted, “Today makes it 305 days since Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as governor, and history is being made as I stand here because, about four years ago, I served as chairman of the national campaign council. Again, the party has given me this responsibility, and I want to thank the President, the leader of our party, for his support.”
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the campaign would be based on Aiyedatiwa’s achievements rather than sentiment, saying, “Aiyedatiwa has made our job simple because, in 305 days, he has a compendium of projects under his legacy agenda. He is a man we can go out with our full chest to assure the citizens of Ondo State that more developmental projects will be put in place in the next four years.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa outlined his administration’s accomplishments over the past 10 months, focusing on infrastructural development, public utilities, agriculture, entrepreneurship, youth development, job creation, security, healthcare, education, and social welfare.
“We have shown commitment to social welfare to alleviate the sufferings of our people,” he said. “We are concerned with leadership with integrity and character.”
Expressing his commitment to a credible election, Aiyedatiwa stated, “We have worked hard for the hearts of the people. We are talking to them house to house, door to door, and mouth to ears. Above all, we are committed to a peaceful and credible election where votes count.”
APC National Vice Chairman for the South-West, Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, and Ondo State Chairman, Engineer Ade Adetimehin, expressed confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s prospects.
Kekemeke asserted that Ondo State “is ready to deliver 85 percent of the votes for Aiyedatiwa,” while Adetimehin added that Aiyedatiwa’s popularity has “intimidated candidates of other political parties.”
