Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reiterated that his administration has not taken any loans to finance its projects and programmes across the state.
Instead, he emphasised the measures taken to block financial leakages, employ local content, and ensure high standards while reducing project costs.
This statement was part of the governor’s address on Wednesday, marking the second anniversary of his administration. Governor Adeleke highlighted his commitment to transparency and continuity, noting that he had not cancelled any inherited projects or terminated contracts awarded by his predecessor.
“I want our people to note for the record that for all our projects and programmes, we did not obtain any loan. We only block leakages in the state finance and employ local content to moderate project cost and enforce high standards. We never discriminated on inherited projects and we never sacked any contractors engaged by our predecessor. We run an open, transparent government,” he said.
Reflecting on his achievements over the past two years, the governor said his administration was focused on reviving the state and ensuring good governance. He outlined the five-point agenda he launched, targeting key areas of need for the people of Osun State.
“My administration launched out with a five-point agenda. We targeted specific areas of needs of the people which form the major components of the clearly defined agenda. The goal principally was to address the aspirations and immediate needs of our people,” he explained.
Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to completing all ongoing projects within the remaining two years of his first term. He pledged to continue addressing both infrastructure and social needs, ensuring a balance between hard and soft infrastructure.
“For the second half of our government, I reassure all sons and daughters of Osun State that the government under my leadership will complete all ongoing projects. We will continue to address the infra and social needs of our people. We will strike a balance between hard and soft infrastructure,” he said.
Looking ahead, the governor promised to deepen consultations with citizens and maintain responsiveness to their aspirations. He invited the public to join in celebrating the administration’s anniversary, which will include town hall meetings and the commissioning of various projects and programmes.
“With praises to God Almighty and the universe, I address you on major advances our administration has already recorded across the sectors. Therefore, I invite you to join me as we commence the anniversary with town hall meetings and commissioning of projects and programmes,” Governor Adeleke added.
