The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum has dismissed reports that its Chairman, Governor Bala Mohammed, filed a lawsuit against the party’s National Executive Council meeting. Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, Director-General of PDP-GF, described the claims as baseless and malicious.
A recent online publication alleged that Mohammed filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Gusau seeking an ex-parte order to convene the NEC meeting.
However, Agbo stressed that the Chairman and PDP-GF have no involvement in the lawsuit.
The denial comes as the PDP postpones its NEC meeting from October 24 to November 28. Governor Mohammed explained that the postponement aims to ensure the party’s unity and strength ahead of the Ondo gubernatorial elections on November 16.
The decision was made during a consultative meeting attended by key stakeholders, including the PDP Governors’ Forum, Board of Trustees, National Working Committee, National Assembly leadership of the PDP Caucus, and Forum of Former Governors.
Governor Mohammed emphasized the need for unity among party members, urging them to avoid divisive utterances that could undermine the party’s efforts to strengthen its opposition role.
The PDP Governors’ Forum reaffirmed its commitment to resolving internal issues and presenting a united front in the 2027 elections.
Mr Agbo described the report as ”dubious, malicious and attempt to smear the character of Mohammed”.
“This is to emphatically state that the Chairman of the PDP-GF and governor of Bauchi State does not in any way, either by proxy or himself, have anything to do with the said suit.
“For emphasis, our teeming supporters and all Nigerians are urged to ignore the false claim that the Chairman of the Forum or any of its members instigated any legal proceedings about the above,” he said.
