The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has finally opened up on the alleged theft of his phone at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Tuesday on Tuesday August 1, 2023.
The alleged phone theft was clarified by the spokesperson to the former Anambra State governor, Valentine Obienyem, who disclosed that the phone was not stolen.
It would be recalled that Obi was seeing in a viral video, complaining about his missing phone at the court in Abuja on Tuesday.
Clarifying the issue on Wednesday, Obienyem said that Obi left his phone on the table to exchange pleasantries with some people in court, and one of his aides picked it up for safekeeping.
He however explained further that the phone was not stolen and that Obi appreciates the concern of his supporters.
“Yesterday, the news of the loss of Mr. Peter Obi’s phone went viral. The spontaneous outpouring of solidarity was yet again a demonstration of the love of the people for him.
“May I happily inform you that it was not a case of theft. He left the phones on his table to exchange pleasantries with some people in court, whereupon, for safety sake, one of his aides picked the phones
“Once again, we appreciate your concern,” Obienyem wrote.
The Presidential Election Petition Court is hearing a case filed by Obi challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25, Presidential election.
