The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, has called for collaboration with and support from Nigerians in the Diaspora for all programmes of the ministry, including the National Social Safety Nets Programmes to be launched under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Dr Edu made this known on Thursday during the courtesy visit of the All Progressive Congress United Kingdom executives to her office in Abuja, Nigeria.
APC UK Women Leader Hajiya Jamila Zanna Mohammed led the Diaspora executives, which included Lady Edith Nwachukwu and others, to show solidarity for President Tinubu’s administration.
Hajiya Jamila Zanna Mohammed commended Dr Betta Edu for providing a broader perspective on humanitarian issues and planned social protection programmes under the national social safety nets programmes to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.
According to Hajiya Mohammed, Nigerians in the Diaspora have a lot of valuable ideas to assist the nation, especially tested and successful programmes that could be domesticated for Nigeria.
She welcomed the suggestion of more structured engagement and partnerships to ensure that the humanitarian efforts of President Tinubu’s administration through Dr Betta Edu’s ministry become a great success.
