The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has received the Greece envoy to Nigeria.
The Delegation was led by the Gateway Ambassador to Nigeria, Ioannis Plotas, who has expressed his country`s readiness to support the Federal Government in its efforts to lift Nigerians out of poverty.
The envoy said his visit was to strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and Greece and support the Honourable Minister with her humanitarian responses and to explore the possibilities of further cooperation in the domain of humanitarian affairs.
While commending the long-standing relationship that exists between the two countries, the honorable minister expressed determination to build on it and ensure that Nigerians will benefit from their support.
She said, “The ministry will ensure robust and sustainable poverty alleviation programs, especially with the Federal government social safety net projects, which are structured to capture vulnerable groups, be gender-sensitive, and help Nigeria reduce poverty”.
The envoy assured the determination of the Greek government to provide the needed support.
