The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 election, Peter Obi, has met with stakeholders of the party in Anambra state to discuss ‘on the way forward for the party’.
In the just concluded presidential election, Obi polled 6,101,533 votes to come a distant third after Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, who polled 6,984,520 votes, while, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress polled 8,794,722 votes, to become the winner of the election.
Obi, after the election, contended the results, filing a petition with the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal against the Independent National Electoral Commission, the APC and Tinubu.
He, as well as his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has also been seen on TV and on social media insisting that they would do all they can, legally, to reclaim their stolen mandate.
On Sunday, the former Anambra state governor shared pictures from the meeting with party members in Anambra, stating his reassurance to them to fight for the party’s mandate.
Accompanied with the pictures, he wrote, “Earlier today, I interacted with the Anambra State Labour Party Stakeholders in Awka. The meeting was quite animated and constructive. Part of our discussions centred on the way forward for the party.
“I reassured them of my readiness to go all the way, explore every available legal option to ensure that we get our mandate back. I appreciated all their support so far, as I assured them of mine. -PO”
