The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, paid a visit to the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose on Sunday.
According to Fayose’s aide, Lere Olayinka, who uploaded the photographs online, Obi met the former Ekiti governor “in his Lagos residence today.”
Premium Politics reports that Obi was a former member of Fayose’s opposition Peoples Democratic Party before defecting to LP to pursue his presidential dreams.
However, the PDP has been hit by an internal crisis following the selection of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as the vice presidential candidate by the party’s flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar,
The former vice president was accused of failing to honour the democratic choice in the selection of his running mate by picking Okowa over Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who was recommended by 14 out of 17 members of the PDP committee set up by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.
Subsequently, Fayose, who is yet to dump the PDP, openly withdrew his support for Atiku who is a northerner by drumming support for a southern presidency bid
“The current President of Nigeria is a two-term northern Presidency, thus implying that it must be a southern Presidency in 2023 or nothing,” Fayose tweeted on Wednesday.
“Awa ‘South’ lo kan’. Nigerians should await details soon,” he added
