President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday received former president Goodluck Jonathan at the presidential Villa in Abuja.
The purpose of the meeting remains unknown, however it occurred approximately five weeks after Jonathan’s initial visit to Tinubu at the Villa on June 13, following his assumption of office in May.
Jonathan, who also serves as the Head of the ECOWAS Mediation Team to Mali, expressed that the purpose of the visit was to engage in discussions regarding matters concerning Africa and the subregion of West Africa.
“I came to brief the president about some continental and subcontinental bodies,” he told journalists on his exit from the State House in Abuja.
“I am the ECOWAS mediator for Mali and I’m the chair of the West African Elders Forum. So, there are certain issues bordering on the continent and the subregion that I discuss with various presidents.”
