The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and other Peoples Democratic Party governors on Wednesday met with their Bauchi State counterpart, Governor Bala Mohammed.
Other governors at the meeting include Samuel Ortom of Benue State; Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, was reportedly absent from the meeting. The governors are referred to as the G-5 governors.
Currently, the governors are demanding the removal of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, from office. They have also boycotted the party’s presidential campaign and rejected all entreaties to work with the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Premium Politics reports that the host governor had earlier raised concerns that Atiku sidelined him by refusing to visit him after the presidential primary, although he visited other aspirants.
He also alleged that Atiku was frustrating his re-election bid.
Mohammed, who is the vice chairman of the Atiku Campaign Council in the Northeast, also alleged that the former vice president picked campaign coordinators from his state without consultation with him.
As of the time of filing this report, the agenda of the meeting is unknown.
