The Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, paid a courtesy visit to the former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, on Friday, October 13.
The governor was accompanied by some of his commissioners and aides.
The visit was aimed at seeking the former president’s wisdom and guidance on how to tackle the security challenges posed by the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast region of the country. Zulum also expressed his appreciation for Buhari’s support and solidarity with the people of Borno State during his tenure as president.
Buhari, who retired from active politics after completing his second term in office in May 2023, welcomed Zulum and his entourage warmly and praised his efforts in restoring peace and stability in Borno State. He assured him of his continued prayers and advice on how to end the menace of terrorism and bring lasting development to the state.
The two leaders also discussed other issues of national interest, such as the state of the economy, the fight against corruption, and the unity and progress of the country. They also exchanged pleasantries and gifts before departing.
The visit was captured in some photos that were shared on social media by the governor’s media aide, Isa Gusau. The photos showed Zulum and Buhari in a cordial and friendly mood, as they smiled and chatted with each other. The photos also showed the former president looking healthy and relaxed in his native attire.
