The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu, has applauded the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their exceptional professionalism during the Edo State governorship elections.
The elections, held on September 21, were marked by calm and orderliness, with security forces ensuring public safety and protecting the democratic process.
Adeolu specifically commended the security personnel’s discipline and neutrality throughout the election period, according to NTA.
He also applauded the people of Edo State for their maturity and democratic values.
To maintain stability and public safety, Adeolu directed tactical squads and intelligence contingents to remain in the state until further notice.
Meanwhile, the police chief mourned the loss of five policemen who died in a motor accident in Kano State while returning from Edo State election duties.
Adeolu assured the public of the police force’s commitment to protecting democracy and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
