The Presidency has reacted to the rescue of the abducted students from Kuriga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Reacting to the development in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency thanked God for the release of the 286 students while commending Governor Uba Sani for his efforts in ensuring their safe release.
“We thank God that the kids have been released by their captors. Congrats Gov. Sani,” Onanuga posted on X.
Bandits terrorizing the state had invaded LEA Primary School Kuriga and Junior Secondary School, Kuriga town, in Chikun Local Government Area of the state on March 7 and whisked away 287 students, including a principal, Abubakar Isah, to an unknown destination.
The assailants however demanded N1 billion ransom as the only condition for the release of the children.
However, it was announced by Governor Sani in the earlier hours of Sunday, that the 287 schoolchildren had regained their freedom.
Meanwhile, there was no confirmation if the children were rescued by security operatives or if ransom was paid, to secure their release.
