The lead counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, has warned President Bola Tinubu against using force against #EndBadGovernance protesters and continuing Kanu’s detention.
Ejimakor stated that such actions would be politically detrimental to Tinubu.
Taking to X on Tuesday, Ejimakor urged Tinubu to lead with justice and fair play, emphasizing that persistence in Kanu’s “unfair trial” and detention would harm his political standing.
Recall that Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, remains in Department of State Services custody despite court orders for his release.
The Tinubu administration has resisted calls for a political solution, amid ongoing protests against hunger and suffering in Nigeria.
Ejimakor’s caution comes as Nigerians continue to demand change and an end to bad governance.
Posting on X, Ejimakor wrote: “Dear President Tinubu: Anybody advising you to use force against #EndBadGovernace protest and to persist in the #UnfairTrial and detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not doing you any favor but is actually pushing you to destroy yourself politically. Lead with justice and fair play for all.”
