Russia president, Vladimir Putin, is set to deliver a speech on the war with Ukraine which is a year old on February 21, a day in 2022 he publicly announced Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states.
Putin will give an analysis of the international situation and give an assessment of what he calls a “special military operation”.
According to Aljazeera, Putin’s address comes after several high-stakes diplomatic moves, including US President Joe Biden visiting Kyiv to meet Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, due to visit Moscow.
In a chat with Russian defence analyst who served as a senior research officer in the Soviet Academy of Sciences, Pavel Felgenhauer, he is of the believe that the war may likely escalate but could end this year.
He said ,“the intensity of the fighting is too high for it to be maintained for long,” after 12 months of bloody battles.
