The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has shared food items to Muslim faithfuls in the spirit of Ramadan in Abuja.
The Minister engaged in the sharing on Saturday at the Cyprien Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture in Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
Represented by the Head of Service, Samuel Udo Atang, the former Rivers State governor shared not fewer than 5000 bags of rice.
Other items included 1000 cartons of vegetable oil, 1000 cartons of sugar, and 1000 cartons were distributed to beneficiaries, including the 17 FCT graded chiefs, mosques in the FCT, the six Area Councils, and welfare associations, according to the Independent.
He emphasized that the gesture aimed to alleviate the impact of rising food prices and ensure that Muslims in the FCT could break their fast with ease.
He urged Muslims to use the fasting period to pray for peace in the country and the good health of President Bola Tinubu.
Director of Protocol in the minister’s office, Sani Daura, described the initiative not only as an act of charity but also as a demonstration of the FCT Administration’s commitment to supporting residents in times of need.
He highlighted the initiative as a symbol of hope and solidarity, reflecting the true spirit of Ramadan – a time of giving, compassion, and unity.
In response, Chief Imam of the official residence of the FCT Minister, Ustaz Lawal Mustafa, and Head of Bwari Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, Bala Tsoho Musa, expressed gratitude to the FCT Minister for easing their hardship and enabling them to observe the fast in a good state of mind.
