The chairmen of local governments in Osun State, reinstated by the Court of Appeal, have officially resumed their duties across various council secretariats.
The chairmen arrived at their local governments amid heavy security presence, with security vehicles stationed at several councils since last week.
Some of the chairmen instructed local government workers to resume and continue their duties without delay.
Alhaji Bayo Oyekanmi, the chairman of Boluwaduro Local Government, resumed office on Monday and immediately directed the council staff to return to work. Similarly, Hon. Olayera Elugbaju, the chairman of Ife Central Local Government, reassured staff of adequate security and encouraged them to resume their tasks.
Elugbaju emphasized that there was no need for concern, as security personnel were fully deployed to ensure the smooth running of daily activities.
Reports indicate that chairmen from other councils, including Ifelodun, Ejigbo, and Olorunda, also resumed their positions. It was observed that at least six policemen were stationed at key points in each of the major local government areas across the state.
