The Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, has confirmed Emmanuel Oniengiye Frank-Fubara as a commissioner nominee.
This confirmation follows a request from Governor Siminalayi Fubara to the Assembly to screen and ratify the nominee.
At the resumption of plenary on Monday, the Speaker read the governor’s correspondence on the floor of the house, paving the way for Frank-Fubara’s confirmation. The Assembly then scrutinized the nominee’s credentials and qualifications, ultimately approving his appointment.
During his screening by the lawmakers, the commissioner nominee confidently stated that his extensive experience serving on various committees in the state has equipped him to excel in any portfolio assigned to him. He pledged to deliver his duties with utmost dedication and commitment, promising “hundred percent serviceable” performance.
Lawmakers praised Frank-Fubara’s credentials, with the Leader of the House, Sokari Goodboy Sokari, urging swift confirmation and citing the nominee’s proven integrity. The Deputy Speaker, Timothy Orubienimigha, echoed this sentiment, praising Frank-Fubara’s impeccable character and expressing confidence in his ability to serve the state with distinction.
At the end of the debate, the Speaker confirmed the nominee after a voice vote from members, who unanimously voted in favor of Frank-Fubara’s appointment. The lawmakers’ endorsements solidified his position as a commissioner, and the house adjourned until Thursday.
