A former senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Andrew Uchendu, has advised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to prioritize his ministerial responsibilities over meddling in Rivers State politics.
Uchendu’s call comes on the heels of recent arson attacks on local government areas in Rivers State and the escalating political tension between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Wike.
The former senator, who is also a leader of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, intervened in the ongoing crisis, urging Wike to focus on his job in Abuja and allow Governor Fubara to serve out his term, according to Channels TV.
Meanwhile, stakeholders in Emohua Local Government Area, one of the areas affected by the arson attacks, have resolved to move forward and focus on achieving genuine development.
At a meeting, the Chairman of Emohua LGA, David Omereji, assured the people of his commitment to equitable development and expressed confidence in Governor Fubara’s leadership during these challenging times.
The meeting also saw the election of Precious Ada-George as the Leader of the House in the Legislative Assembly.
The development is seen as a step towards restoring normalcy in the area and promoting development.
The political landscape in Rivers State remains tense, with many calling for calm and stability.
Governor Fubara’s administration has pledged to address the challenges facing the state and ensure peace and prosperity for all residents.
